Picking up and returning books

Direct pick-up

When the book is listed in LUBcat as being at "Sambib" and noted "Pick up from shelf", you can pick up and check it out yourself.

See a map of the library

Most books are classified by author surname. Exceptions are books with an editor or books with more than three authors, which are placed on the shelf according to title.

You borrow your books in our self-service machine.

Picking up a book at another library within Lund University

In most cases, you can have a book sent by our transport service to the library of your choice within Lund University. You request the book in LUBcat. Some restrictions apply.

Make another person pick up your reserved books

You can send someone else to pick up your requested books for you. That person need to bring your library card, your ID and their own ID.

Requesting material from the stacks

If the book you are looking for is in the stacks, this will be indicated in LUBcat and you need to request it via the LUBcat request button which features in each post.

When the book is available for pick-up a notification is sent to the email address in your library account.

Returning books

You can only return books during library opening hours, we do not have a book drop. The book drop closest to Sambib is on the western side of the University Library. Books, returned in book drops, are checked in the following working day. Course books that are overdue then will generate an overdue fee.

Books which were borrowed from a library within Lund University can be returned at any of the University’s libraries.
